Decimal Town

What do we mostly use decimals for?
You guessed it, money! Here's how to add some decimal numbers in case you're not sure if you have enough cash for all those yummy things from the supermarket.

Visit this decimals website which has HEAPS of activities all about decimals: http://www.sheppardsoftware.com/mathgames/decimals.htm

Back to Hit the Button make sure you click on Number Bonds in the bottom left corner and try each of these games, in this order:
AIM FOR 30 CORRECT ANSWERS WITH 100% ACCURACY on each game!
- Decimals: Make 1 - 1dp (decimal point)
- Decimals: Make 10 - 1 dp (decimal point)

Picnic Time
Use a shopping brochure and purchase some items (at least 10 - you to be well-fed) for a picnic. Your items must all have decimal numbers.
- How much did you spend in total?
- Check your answer, using estimation and rounding (e.g. rounding to the nearest dollar or 10 dollars for each item then adding them up), is your answer reasonable?
- Now check it with a calculator.
